At the B2 level, you can follow or give a presentation on familiar subjects, and can continue a conversation on a wide variety of different topics. You can quickly find the information that you need in a range of texts and understand details in instructions or advice. You can write a letter which contains unfamiliar information and makes non-standard requests.
You have difficulty speaking about abstract topics or making complex arguments in English, and have trouble communicating professionally in formal situations.
What exams should you consider at the B2 level?
You can prepare for the First Certificate in English (FCE). This is an upper intermediate level exam which demonstrates your ability to use everyday written and spoken English for work and study.

At the C1 level, you can follow and participate in abstract arguments, and draw conclusions. You can handle texts quickly enough to manage the demands of an academic course, and you can write engaging essays and texts with few difficulties for the reader.
